(Extract from page 268 of the Guide)

"The Friulian wines Grandi & Gabana from the vineyards of the Latisana DOC district are situated in a protected mineral water basin area, where the environment has always been protected from pesticide treatments. Grandi & Gabana cellars are part of Gabeca Group, which follows a diversifying policy developing also the agro-industrial sector and focuses its values on protecting the environment and the consumer. The typical clayish muddy soils are furrowed by finer soil, with more sand and pebbles, similar to the Grave soils. This variety allows for the production of different wines, more colourful and structured on clay soil and more aromatic ob the light soils. The combination of climatic factors and planting methods enhances the alcohol level, intensity of colours, structure and body of the wines produced from these grapes."
